Join us in the sunny south of Spain for the Video Intermedia Intensive with Professor John Crawford, a ten-day hands-on workshop for musicians, dancers, directors, actors and performing artists of all kinds.
Immerse yourself in an experiential learning environment and develop new skills for working with video and interactive media. Connect with other participants to create cross-disciplinary performances and installations. Get up to date on the latest digital media tools, including Max/MSP/Jitter, a powerful, easy-to-use media programming system. Work with Active Space, the comprehensive media performance environment created by Prof. Crawford, and take home a copy of Active Space Lite to use in your own projects. More on schedule.
Offered in association with Música Nueva Málaga, the Video Intermedia Intensive opens on June 18 with the first Andalusia Art Film Festival, two nights of stellar fine art films presented in an open air theatre. The schedule is coordinated with two complementary workshops: the Dance Improvisation Intensive and the International Contemporary Festival for Composers, providing opportunities for creative connections with dancers, musicians and others. Work created by participants in the Video Intermedia Intensive and the Dance Improvisation Intensive will be featured in the media installation gallery and a dance/media performance on June 25 and 26. More on registration.
The location for the workshop is Frigiliana, a beautiful and historic Spanish hill town in the heart of Analusia, conveniently located on the Mediterranean coast, 30 minutes from the international airport at Málaga. Picturesque and quiet, Frigiliana is only 5 miles away from the spectacular beaches and nightlife of Spain’s Costa del Sol. More on the workshop facilities.
The workshop director is John Crawford, a recognized expert on video and intermedia performance. With many years experience integrating interactive media with dance, theatre and music, he is currently a professor of Dance and Media Arts at University of California, Irvine. More on Prof. Crawford.
